ABOUT
MOTIF

Motif was established in 1965, as a unique jewelry boutique, in old Tel Aviv. Motif was well known among the locals in Tel Aviv and the suburbs, and of course, returning tourists from all over the world. Over the years, various silver and gold jewelry, diamonds, and precious stones were sold in Motip. The store became known for the quality and innovation of the jewelry and the personal connection and dedication to the costumers. Motif was closed in 1992.

GRANDPA MAXI

Max Singer, Grandpa Maxi, the establisher of 'motip' was born in Germany in 1928, and had quite the journey.

At just 10, he embarked on the "Kindertransport" and made his way to England. There, while learning gold smiting in London, he met his partner-in-crime, Herbert, who became his best bud. Fast forward to 1948 , they moved to Israel, and agter their military service tho duo set up the shop, begining their creative adventure in Shabazi street, Neve Tzedek. From there, it was a journey to Dizengoff st. and eventually Ben-Yehuda, where they opened the famous 'Motip' - a buzzing jewelry spot. Working side by side, Grandpa Maxi was the design wizard in the upstairs workshop, while Herbert and grandma handled sales downstairs. Their friendship and bussines bond were unbreakable, making 'Motip' a hit.

RE-OPENING 'MOTIP'

In 2023 Motif was opened again by daughter Dalit Sharir, a designer graduate of Shankar, and by granddaughter Tamar,

a fourth-year student at Bezalel.

The central motif is the recreation of the original jewelry designed by grandfather Max Singer, and bringing them back to the spotlight nowadays. The jewelry has a great emotional value to us, they have a sentiment and a unique aesthetic. Re-establishing the business, in European standards, requires expertise and high standards from us. The variety and the identified aesthetic, the production techniques, allows you, the customers, to purchase quality items at a fair budget, and jewelry that will be forever close to your heart.

DALIT AND TAMAR

MOTHER AND DAUGTHER

Dalit, born in 1964, married to Yuval, and mother of Omer,

Itai and Tamar.

Since I can remember, I live and breath the creation. When I was little I sat next to my father Maxi, who painted, sculpted, and formed jewellery, I watched him and learned from him. From there to any art class in the area, "Thelma Yelin" Art High School and textile design studies in Shenkar. Designing at the big companies, Delta, Polgat, until teaching at my private studio in Shoham. In recent years I have been creating in a studio in a cell. My dream has come true and I am re-creating with my younger daughter Tamar the brand "Motif" which was my father's.

Tamar, the daughter and granddaughter, born in 1997.  A fashion and goldsmiting student at Bezalel. Graduating this year.

Tamar was born into life in the studio of a Dalit mother. dressing, exploring, cutting, and sewing. Goldsmiting and design is in her soul. "I found at Grandma's all the beautiful and special jewelry that Grandpa Maxi designed. I decided that together with mother we will update the jewelry. Grandfather had a line of Judaica jewelry, and a line of fashion jewelry" Tamar says.

Now, both of us - Tamar and Dalit together are pouring our hearts in creating handmade jewelry. We are keeping the familiy legacy alive by recreating silver and gold jewelry with our own style and twist.
